Printer Fails to print.

If this is a local printer, (printer connected to the computer directly), there might be a simple problem with the print cue.

Check the tray icon, by the clock, for a printer icon with an error sign next to it. Click this icon.

Does the printer cue show documents which have not printed? If so, it is most likely that the first item in the list has caused your printer to "lock up". Delete all of the item from the printer cue. Please note that you may need to reboot the computer in order for the computer to remove the file which failed to print.

Once the computer reboots, check the cue. If it is empty, cycle the power on your printer off, then on again. This will make sure no data remains in the printer.

Try to print a document.

If this is a networked printer...

First - check the print cue on the computer where your printout failed to print. Make sure it is empty. If it is not, delete all of the remaining documents.
You may have to reboot the computer you are trying to print from to force the cue to empty.

Second - reboot the computer where the printer is connected. If the printer is connected to a print server, you will not have a computer to restart.

Now try to print. If this fails. Empty the print cue again and then reboot the computer you are trying to print from.

Once the computer reboots attempt another print.

PRINT SERVER

Print Servers may have to be powered down and then back on in order to drop a bad print job. Do this only as a last resort.
